A total of 64 players will be competing in the 2010 PartyPoker.net World Pool Masters.
Of these, 38 were invited by Matchroom Sport, 22 won qualifiers around the world with the final four spots going to players from two qualifying tournaments the day before the Masters starts.
The first phase will be on a double elimination group basis. There will be eight groups of eight players with four players from each group advancing to the last 32.
Groups One, Two, Three and Four will be played on Wednesday, May 11 with Groups Five, Six, Seven and Eight on Thursday, May 12.
In each group the following pattern of matches will take place
Match 1 - Player A v Player H (winner to match 5, loser to match 7)
Match 2 - Player D v Player E (winner to match 5, loser to match 7)
Match 3 - Player C v Player F (winner to match 6, loser to match 8)
Match 4 - Player B v Player G (winner to match 6, loser to match 8)
Match 5 - Winner of match 1 v winner of match 2 (winner to last 32, loser to match 10)
Match 6 - Winner of match 3 v winner of match 4 (winner to last 32, loser to match 9)
Match 7 - Loser of match 1 v loser of match 2 (winner to match 9, loser eliminated)
Match 8 - Loser of match 3 v loser of match 4 (winner to match 10, loser eliminated)
Match 9 - Winner of match 7 v loser of match 6 (winner to last 32, loser eliminated)
Match 10 - Winner of match 8 v loser of match 5 (winner to last 32, loser eliminated)
