RESULTS: KOREA 7-9 GERMANY; THAILAND 9-3 CHINESE TAIPEI

4.45: Disaster for the Taiwanese as Ko the younger scratches. It's near flawless stuff from Palajin and Kanjanasri as they come with all the shots in the final rack to record a fabulous upset win and set up an enticing clash with Germany in tonight's PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool final.

4.39: Ko Ping-chun makes a jump shot but it leaves the 2 ball out for the Thais and they don't need asking twice as they run out the table to reach the hill at 8-3. This is certainly unexpected but Thailand are playing about as well as anyone has in the tournament so far.

4.30: Two balls down but the third doesn't cross the head string, so the Taiwanese return to the table. They leave a tricky snooker for the Thais and desperately need something to go their way. Kobkit hits the 5 instead of the 4 and it's ball in hand. The Ko brothers run out the remaining balls to take the score to 7-3.

4.25: Another one down for the supremely confident Thai pair who are making the pockets look like buckets. 6-2. And they run out the next to go five ahead.

4.10: Chinese Taipei win the next to make it 4-2, but the Thais, exuding total calmness get to the table in the next and ease their way around the table for 5-2.

4.00: Thailand win the next as Ko the elder overran the cue ball and junior missed the pot.

3.52: Ko Pin-yi is having a howler. A weak safety on the 1 ball leaves it right out in the open. They make it but make their first mistake of the match as Kanjanasri misses the pink 4 into the top left pocket. The Taiwanese clear the table to take their first rack.

3.45: Nothing on the break for Thailand but the table is a congestion zone. There are safeties before Kobkit leaves a 1/5 for the elder Ko. He makes it but makes a bad error as he scratches playing a basic positional shot. It's ball in hand time and Thailand advance to 3-0.

3.43: They may be the underdogs but they're doing all the barking, says commentator Jim Wych, as the Thais move into a 2-0 lead.

3.40: Nitiwat Kanjanasri and Kobkit Palajin take the first rack. 1-0.

3.35: It's Taiwan v Thailand for the right to play Germany in the final. Thailand have shocked the pool world in getting this deep in the tournament, while Taiwan will be looking to go one better than last year when they lost to Philippines B in a classic semi-final last year.

QUOTES: Souquet: "First of all I have to give my respect to Thorsten as he pulled me through. I made so many mistakes and missed so many balls. At the beginning we had a few problems where he missed some and we couldn't find any rhythm. Being 6-2 down we got together, took a time out and came out with a different plan. It didn't go as we wanted but a win is a win."

Hohmann: "Give Team Korea respect as they took advantage of our mistakes and deserved to be in the lead. When we took a time out we said 'we're still champions and can still come back'. From then on we started playing better, got some rolls here and there and now we're in the final."

3.12: Souquet banks the 4 ball and from there Germany go through the table to reach the PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool final for the second time in three years.

3.07: A dry break from the Koreans leaves the 1 ball on. Souquet has a chance of a 2/9 combo but he elects to play safe but leaves the 2 ball on for Lee. Korea though, leave themselves blocked on the 4 ball so Lee ducks the fine cut into the side pocket, and plays a good safety. Hohmann plays the long rail kick and kind of leaves it safe but there is a 4/6 on for Korea which they miss.

2.57: A poor break sees the table return to the Koreans but they seem to be a spent force. They make nothing of the opportunity and the Germans are back at the table going for the win. Hohmann plays a poor shot, leaving a tough one for Ralf and he leaves the pink 4 out in the open for the Koreans. They win their first rack in some time to make it 7-8.

2.52: One of Thorsten's better breaks and they complete a tidy run out to move to the hill 8-6.

2.47: Another miss from Souquet, his third in couple of frames hands the table back to Korea, who are now under pressure having lost their momentum. They play a weak safety as the game gets scrappy. Thye leave the 5 ball on and the Germans lead for the first time since rack 3. 7-6 Germany.

2.28: Germany take the next but Hohmann leaves Souquet a tough one on the 3 ball which he misses. Hwang misses his attampt on it and scratches. The layout is very difficult with a cluster and balls on the rails. They're all tough shots and the Kaiser misses the 5 ball and leaves it on. The Koreans pot it but the lack of position on the green 6 means Hwang has to bank it. He fails and hand the rack to the Germans. It's 6-6 and the Koreans will be rueing that one.

2.17: They exchange safeties before the Hwang flukes the 1 ball but Lee then leaves the 2 ball out in the open. Hohmann pockets it and the Germans gratefully make the most of the Korean gaff. It's now 6-4 Korea.

2.14. A dry break from Lee gets the germans back to the table and they have to make something of this. They do and give themselves a chance. Hohmann breaks off in the tenth but fails to make a ball.

2.10: It's now 6-2 and Germany are starting to look like they will be going out of the competition. The Koreans haven't put a foot wrong so far.

1.58: Germany get back to the table but Hohmann scratches trying to escape from a safety and with ball in hand, Lee downs a 1/9 to go to 5-2.

1.50: Another fantastic break from Team Korea. They make it look easy to open up a two rack lead. 4-2.

1.47: A good break and Korea race through the rack. 3-2.

1.40: It's a legal break from the Kaiser as two balls drop. Hohmann though makes an error as the 2 ball nudges the 3 which throws it of course en route to the pocket. The table goes back to Korea and it looks inviting. They run out to level the score.

1.33: A dry break from Hohmann. He vowed to practice on his break after the quarter-final match but obviously not hard enough. Lee makes a great jump shot on the 1 ball, but overruns the positional shot for the 4 ball to leave Hwang Yong a bank shot which he misses but leaves it safe. Souquet has to kick and he pots it down the top rail. That sets up the run out and it's 2-1.

1.27: After taking the opening rack, Korea achieve a fortunate safety and Souquet kicks at it and flukes the 1 ball. That sets up a tidy run out and it's 1-1.

1.20: The first semi-final is Korea v Germany and that's followed by Chinese Taipei v Thailand. You would be a brave man to bet against a Germany v Chinese Taipei final but with so many shocks in this tournament already you just never know.
