MATCH 11 PUTNAM / DECHAINE 3-6 APPLETON / FEIJEN

MATCH 12 PUTNAM 2-6 APPLETON

MATCH 13 ARCHER / MORRIS 2-6 SOUQUET / FEIJEN

MATCH 14 VAN BOENING 6-5 NICK VAN DEN BERG

MATCH 15 DECHAINE 2-6 MELLING

Europe enjoyed a fantastic third day at the 2011 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup by winning four of the five matches.

Only Shane Van Boening's success against Nick Van den Berg denied them an overall victory with a day to spare.

There's a potential six matches tomorrow and the USA need to win all of them to stop Europe retaining the Mosconi Cup.

QUOTES: CHRIS MELLING (EUROPE): "It was unbelievable. There's a lot of pressure and people back home don't realise how much pressure you're under as you have the whole continent and your friends to play for."

3.47pm: Dechaine's shot at the pink 4 hovers over the pocket but does not drop and Melling sinks it with a kick shot off of the end rail. Melling wins it 6-2 and Europe will only need one more point tomorrow.

TWITTER: @poolshir: "Mentally Team Europe are much stronger! #mosconicup."

3.42pm: Dechaine has to play safe with four balls left and Melling double banks the 5-ball and also banks the 6 as well to move to the hill. 5-2.

3.36pm: Melling spears in a long red 3 and looks full of confidence after Dechaine had ran out of position. Melling moves two ahead at 4-2.

3.29pm: A cracking match in Vegas swings Melling's way as he takes the next for a 3-2 advantage.

TWITTER: @JonoYoungP4P: "Couldn't be any more tense at the #mosconicup, Dechaine and Melling putting on a spectacle."

3.22pm: Both players miss routine looking shots at the pink 4, but Dechaine's is the costly one as Melling pulls it back to 2-2.

3.14pm: A great 6-7 combination from Dechaine helps him take the lead at 2-1.

3.08pm: The last match of the day is between Mike Dechaine and Chris Melling. They share the first two racks.

TWITTER: @RJLeach1: "Unlucky Van Den Berg. Quality comeback just wasn't quite enough. Still just a matter of time before European retain #MosconiCup."

2.57pm: Van den Berg's break is a dry one at the worst time, van Boening makes a tricky 1-ball with the cue ball on the side rail and gets a bit lucky to avoid a scratch going on to the 6-ball. But he later sinks the 9-ball and celebrates victory. That win ensures there will be action on Sunday.

2.50pm: No luck on the break from Van Boening and Van den Berg shows his class by winning his third on the spin for hill-hill.

2.45pm: Still hope for the Dutchman as he takes two on the spin. The eighth comes after Van Boening leaves the 2-ball hanging over the pocket while the next is routine.

2.32pm: Van den Berg gives away ball-in-hand by not touching any rail after his shot and Van Boening moves to the hill.

2.24pm: Van Boening takes the next two racks to extend his lead to 4-2. The fifth comes after Van den Berg leaves the pink 4 on.

2.11pm: Van Boening loses position going from the 3-ball to the 4-ball and Van den Berg takes advantage for 2-2.

TWITTER: @AWAs29: "So hooked on watching the #mosconicup, that I've missed first half of #ElClasico can't see me switching over tbh! #comeoneurope."

2.04pm: A 3-9 combination makes it 2-0 but Van den Berg takes the next and is behind 2-1.

2.02pm: Shane Van Boening plays Nick Van Den Berg in the next one and the Americans need something special and need it quickly. Van Boening wins the first.

QUOTES: RALF SOUQUET (EUROPE): "When we had a training camp we played with each other and figures out what teams were working out and Johan then picked the pairings.

"It's not over until the fat lady sings and we want to win the next two and finish it off. We have quite a comfortable lead but it's still a long road."

QUOTES: NIELS FEIJEN (EUROPE): "When everyone is scoring points in front of you it takes the pressure off. We've clicked really well and have a great team spirit and a great team.

"It can change so quickly so you have to be so sharp."

1.46pm: Souquet and Feijen finish the job off. It's looking a formality and the US have been woeful today."

TWITTER: @Banko_10: "Enjoying the tension of #mosconicup wipes the floor with #xfactor."

1.39pm: Break and run out from Souquet and Feijen. USA have been outplayed and out-thought. First chant from the European fans of easy, easy, easy. And it is. 5-2 and on the hill, one rack away from a huge 9-4 lead.

1.36pm: Archer's break is a dry one and there's a shot on the 1-ball for Europe, who move 4-2 in front in this match.

1.28pm: Souquet misses a tough red 3 as USA make it 2-3 but they've still got a lot of work to do.

TWITTER: @Normlfc: "#mosconicup when are the yanks showing up ? This is soooooooo easy ........"

TWITTER: @alison_fischer: "Archer & Morris need to come together here to keep USA alive... #mosconicup."

1.19pm: Morris scratches off the break and Europe are looking in complete control. Nothing wrong from Feijen and Souquet 3-1.

1.13pm: Flawless from the Europeans as they go 2-1 in front. Top quality entertainment in Las Vegas.

1.06pm: USA need someone to step up and Archer looks to be that man as he produces two sensational shots - a jump shot to pot the 1-ball and a quality kick shot to dispose of the 3-ball. That helps USA mae it 1-1 in this match.

1.01pm: Europe endured a horrible start to day two and USA have suffered a miserable beginning to day three. They need Johnny Archer and Rodney Morris to pull things together, but they don't start well as Souquet and Feijen take the opener.

TWITTER: @DomBres: "Is that the moment the #MosconiCup is won for Europe? The US can't afford to lose any more tonight you'd think! #ole"

TWITTER: @nokeeffe1: "The yanks are getting spanked in the #MosconiCup. #Europe lead 8-4."

12.45pm: Putnam looks a beaten man after a poor positional effort and he soon is a beaten man. Appleton eases to a 6-2 win as Putnam folds without putting up a fight.

TWITTER: @billyh04 "Darren Appleton absolutely bossing! Who needs El Classico when you've got the #mosconicup."

12.41pm: Putnam's break is illegal and he then gifts ball-in-hand to Appleton after a shocking attempt to hit the 1-ball goes wrong. 2-5.

12.32pm: Appleton's first mistake sees him fail to roll the orange 5 down the side rail. A much-needed boost for Putnam 2-4.

TWITTER: @Robys_No8 "Darren Appleton is on fire in the Mosconi Cup here! #mosconicup."

12.26pm: A break and run out in the fourth rack for Appleton, who jumps to a 3-1 advantage and then extends it further to 4-1.

12.19pm: Putnam overcuts a tricky attempt on the blue 2 and Appleton restores his lead.

12.16pm: Putnam gets an instant chance to redeem himself as Appleton's break in no good. Putnam does the rest and levels at 1-1.

12.11pm: Putnam should make it 1-0 but misses the 9-ball and leaves it on. Christmas comes early for Appleton and the present is gift wrapped with a big bow on top. 1-0 to Europe.

12.10pm: The second match of the day is a repeat of the 2011 US Open final between Shawn Putnam and Darren Appleton, who won on that occasion.

LEGENDS ON TWITTER: @alex_lely "Phenomenal last rack from Daz and Niels @ #mosconicup kicking like a mule!!"

TWITTER: @lisaboo83 "Best match of the tournament so far! Well done Darren & Niels. Come on Europe! #mosconicup."

TWITTER: @DJ_Paul_Mac "That final rack was one of the best you will see... well played Europe! #mosconicup."

12.30pm: Putnam hasn't played in the Mosconi Cup since 2005 and is struggling here. An unforced error as he scratches into the side pocket. Appleton 4-1 and cruising at the moment.

QUOTES: DARREN APPLETON: "Yesterday we lost the first doubles match 6-5 but Niels and Nick had played well. You need a bit of luck at the right time and we had a couple of rolls there.

"But we played well at the end and had a lot of fire inside us - Niels is a fantastic player to play with."

QUOTES: NIELS FEIJEN (EUROPE): "That last rack was a goosebump rack, it was electrifying stuff."

11.54am: Commentator Jerry Forsyth describes it as 'one of the best racks of the Mosconi Cup ever' as Dechaine, Appleton and Putnam all come up with excellent safety shots to leave the next man in trouble before Feijen completes the fine run of shots with a 2-rail escape to not only hit the 2-ball but pot it as well. The rest of the rack is quite routine and Europe seal a 6-3 win. Their overall lead extends to 7-4.

11.49am: A much-needed break and run out from the American duo but they are still 3-5 behind.

TWITTER: @tsetse97 "Team Europe getting all the rolls at the mo #mosconicup."

11.44am: Feijen pots the 9-ball into the side pocket and it's looking easy for Europe, 5-2. He had earlier got an outrageous fluke when he double-kissed the 2-ball and pocketed it in lucky fashion.

11.41am: A dry break from Dechaine, Feijen misses a bank shot on the 1-ball but Putnam leaves a 1-9 combination on and Appleton makes it. 4-2.

11.36am: An excellent safety from Feijen leaves USA in trouble and Dechaine scratches with his attempt to get out of it. USA were two up and now 3-2 down.

11.31am: An illegal break from Putnam gives Europe the table and a 4-9 combination from Appleton makes it all square at 2-2.

11.25am: Europe pull one back 2-1.

11.19am: A poor shot from Appleton in the second as he scratches into the side pocket. That gifts America a second rack. 2-0.

11.15am: USA make a bright start as Feijen misses a tough attempt at the orange 5, with the ball on the rail. A fine bank from Putnam on the same ball helps make it 1-0.

11.12am: The first match of the third day is a doubles clash between Shawn Putnam and Mike Dechaine against Darren Appleton and Niels Feijen.
