EFREN REYES and Francisco Bustamante are confident of clinching the PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool title for the third time.
The event, which features 32 two-player teams from 31 nations, returns to Manila in September and Reyes and Bustamante, winners in 2006 and 2009, are the Phillippines B side and among the favourites.
"We still have some gas left in the tank," said Bustamante. "The problem is when one of us misses us a shot, our arthritis acts up," he joked.
Reyes was asked what he thought of their chances of winning and said: "We can still win even if we're older than the competition because we've been practicing for the event."
The Filipino players were presented to their media at a press conference at the Penthouse of the Solar Century Tower in Makati.
Dennis Orcollo, who will be in the Philippines A side along with Ronnie Alcano, was expecting strong challenges from a few other teams.
"China are still the team to beat because they are the defending champions but Chinese Taipei, Germany and England are also strong," said Orcollo.
Alcano, who is not a man of many words, simply faced Reyes and Bustamante and said 'I'll see you in the Finals'.
The World Cup of Pool will be aired live in the Philippines on Solar Sports from September 6 to 11.
"We're glad to bring this event again to the Philippines and we're happy to have the four guys here who are all my idols," said Solar Entertainment COO Peter Chanliong.
Matchroom Sport will also produce 31 x one-hour highlights programmes, which will be broadcast around the world.
